Gaby Schofield

Gaby Schofield (b. 1996, Hertfordshire, UK)

Schofield uses painting as a mesmeric and reflective act, with gestures laid down in response to what happened before. As an organic process, imagery remains in flux, morphing between something flowing and spacious to something tighter and more graphic. Themes gravitate towards the body and natural worlds: beings that feel, feed, grow and decay. Her work invites a slower pace of thought, reflecting on time spent in nature and the sensory experience of one's surroundings. Forms echo the intuition of organic life and its fleeting materiality: repeating, mutating and suggesting something universal.
